ping 4
In Overflow, you must navigate through cave-like levels and destroy systems of spawners and turrets. Use WASD to move, mouse to shoot, and R to reload. You can hold down left click to continuously fire. Holding shift allows you to slide and move faster. You can change the music volume using the scroll wheel.
If you have never played the game before, it is recommended that you first use the guide on the main menu.
drops
The purple heptagon increases your scale, which affects your gun's speed, your gun's ammo capacity, and the overall pace of the game. The white diamond restores ammo, and the amount of ammo restored depends on your scale. The red heart restores 10 health, and the pink heart restores health to 150. The blue arrow gives a temporary stacking speed boost. The wheels are blasts, which push enemies away from the player. The green blast is the weakest, the yellow is stronger, and the orange is the most powerful.
Scale upgrades drop every 500 points you earn (turrets giving 300 and enemies giving 100.) Once you have reached the maximum scale of 30, each scale point is replaced by an ammo point.
enemies
There are seven types of enemies and seven types of turrets (distinguished by color.) Purple enemies are basic swarming enemies that drop ammo points when killed. Red enemies are weak sliding enemies. Blue enemies are slow and strong, and they drop a health boost when they are killed. The orange enemies are weaker but can shoot. The green enemies shoot and slide, and they drop a speed boost when they die. The gold enemies are strong and fast shooting. The silver enemies are incredibly strong sliding attackers that do not shoot.
Turrets are stationary shooting enemies, all of which drop blasts except for the blue turrets. The purple and red turrets drop weak blasts, the orange and green drop medium, and the gold and silver drop strong. The orange and gold turrets have a faster rate of fire. The blue turret drops a pink heart.
spawners
Spawners spawn enemies at a slow rate. The color of the spawner signifies what enemies it will spawn. Spawners have health according to their color, and the rate of spawn increases as you increase your scale.
levels
There are 12 levels, 4 beginner, 4 advanced, and 4 expert. To clear a level, you must break each turret and spawner, and kill the remaining enemies. You can tell how many of each objective are left via the numbers displayed under your health and time.
Playthrough on the main menu will take you through each level consecutively. If you want to play just one level, use level select.
If you are playing through the whole game, your time and score will accumulate with each level. If you finish a level with more than 100 health, you will start the next level with the same health. If you finish a level with 150 health, you will start the next with already upgraded scale.
